Concrete Scanning

The core of what we do

Concrete scanning is at the core of our business. Our mission is to provide engineers, builders and contractors with accurate and well-interpreted subsurface data, so they can make well informed decisions about their project. This allows these professionals to ensure the safety of structures, assets and personnel.

Why our clients choose us

The team at Concrete Scanning Services use industry leading Mala GPR equipment to accurately and effectively perform concrete investigations and evaluations. Here’s why our clients choose to work with us:

We have varied experience in simple, ranging to extremely complex applications, and are trained in the use of market leading GPR equipment.

We offer a complete package of concrete scanning, structural certification and concrete coring, saving our clients time, money and hassle of needing to appoint and manage multiple contractors.

Also available are Structural Engineering services such as the review, approval and certification of proposed works, and related services.

Why conduct concrete scanning?

Cutting, coring and drilling of concrete structures requires great caution; hidden features in these structures can cause damage to machinery or the structure itself. Worse still, they can cause harm to the machinery operator.

Construction professionals require a safe and reliable means of inspecting work areas to locate and identify hidden features… That’s where we come in.

What is GPR and why is it important?

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a non-destructive and non-intrusive method of surveying that can be carried out quickly and efficiently, without causing any delays in construction or interrupting other tradespeople onsite. It is the most cost effective sub-surface investigation method available.

GPR technology replaced concrete x-ray technology, as it delivers faster results, is safe to use in public spaces and and provides clearer 2D projections than concrete x-ray technology. GPR produces images in real time for the concrete scanner technician to analyse onsite; whereas the x-ray has to be taken away and the data reviewed. GPR is safer and more efficient, suitable for scanning larger areas.

Concrete Scanning Services uses GPR technology because we are committed to providing safe, reliable and efficient services that save our clients time and money.

Using GPR, we scan for and identify

How are the findings presented?

Concrete Scanning Services offer clear and concise reporting of all survey results. Depending on the client’s reporting requirements we can offer either a site mark-up or we can present the investigation results by submitting a comprehensive and detailed user friendly report including analysis of the findings, that can be easily interpreted and understood.

We can also offer the service of producing or updating CAD drawings, which can be supplied in hard or soft copies.

If required, we have the ability to create a 3D picture of the subsurface by collecting a number of perpendicular scans, a ‘top down’ and cross sectional view of the area can be presented. This allows us to look down ‘through’ the slab and identify features and objects at different depths which run in different directions.
